Start this tour with a pleasant walk with the inside tour of lofty St. Isaac’s Cathedral that required 10,762 tarred pine piles to ensure stable and flat ground. Its scale and edifice electrify at first glance: a striped dome is adorned with more than 100 kg of gold! Later cross the Neva river and visit Peter & Paul Fortress with Cathedral. Being initially constructed as a fort to defend the capital from the impendent Swedish attack, this fortress will transfer you in 1721 when it was a jail for famous Russian writers M. Gorky and F. Dostoevsky.
Review an impressive church design of a talented but no so well-known French architect. Get a deep impression of 600 sq. m of mosaics and 400 kg of gold that were used to decorate it! Enter the Ivan’s Gate that leads to a renowned fortress. Fuse in the ornately decorated church and the so-called Ducal Mausoleum where great dukes and tzars were buried.
Duration: 3 hours. We will meet you at your hotel/apartment at the time that you select upon booking. Transfer to the museum is possible only if your accommodation is located not further than 6 km from the city center (Palace Square). Otherwise, we will agree on a meeting point.
